CoAction is proud to announce our NEW Dementia Initiatives created by our Dementia Outreach Specialist. These initiatives help spread awareness about dementia in Northwest Indiana, provide safe, non-judgmental spaces to discuss dementia, obtain resources, receive early memory screenings, and receive education about memory impairments. 1) Lending Library: Help CoAction create the FIRST Lending Library in Northwest Indiana! A resource library for People Living With Dementia (PLWD) and their care partners from which resources may be borrowed for a short time to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by dementia.
2) Dementia Days: These monthly open-house style events at the CoAction office allow individuals and families to drop in, ask questions, learn about dementia, access resources, and receive free memory screenings.
3) Memory Cafe: Help CoAction create the FIRST Memory Café in Northwest Indiana! Memory Cafés are a monthly gathering of individuals with memory loss along with their care partners in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. A great time for refreshments, activities, music, and fun!
4) Dementia Deliveries: Making caregiving easy! Sponsor dementia-friendly subscription boxes that provide comfort, engagement, and relief for both caregivers and individuals living with dementia. Each monthly theme includes a mix of sensory, cognitive, and relaxation items.
5) Resource Fair: Join CoAction’s 1st Annual Dementia Resource Fair to learn about dementia resources, educations, and products. This event is FREE to the public! Learn how living life with dementia is possible in Northwest Indiana. Poverty affects all aspects of a person’s life, but poverty does not define a person.
CoAction is a safe place for everyone to be who they are, a place where economic status is not the defining aspect of a person and where individuals and families can move from surviving to flourishing.
Through services like rent and utility assistance, resource centers, shelters, and nutrition programs, provide resources that help people meet their basic needs and stabilize their situations.
Through programs like affordable rentals, permanent supportive housing, senior centers, and matched savings accounts, offer opportunities for people to have places to live, places to connect, and means to improve their lives.
